Shell Netherlands LNG Fuel Network Expands to Five Stations
Shell has continued the rollout of Liquefied Natural Gas fuel in The Netherlands by opening it’s fifth
LNG truck refuelling station, located in Eindhoven. The station is located along the A2 motorway, a
major truck route servicing Belgium, France and the German Ruhr area, and has capacity to refuel up
to 200 LNG trucks per day.
”With the addition of Eindhoven, we now offer a relevant network for LNG fuel in the Netherlands,”
says Lauran Wetemans, General Manager Downstream LNG for Shell. ”There are more and more
options in the truck market and the trends are not static. We continue to work with truck
manufacturers, customers and policymakers to develop it further. The station in Eindhoven is an
important step to further expand the network of LNG filling stations in Europe. ”
Transport companies Vos Logistics, Zandbergen Transport and Waterfront BV are among the first
customers of the new LNG station. ”That Shell’s LNG tank network continues to expand is a
confirmation that it was a good choice to invest and develop as a pioneer in LNG,” says Annemarie
Timmermans, LNG Project Manager. ”Vos Logistics deliberately chooses LNG trucks for a more
sustainable fleet and international transport.”
More and more road haulage companies are considering natural gas as a cost-competitive and
cleaner fuel. “It’s great to see customers now fill their trucks with Shell LNG Fuel at the Shell filling
station, where customers formerly refueled with diesel and GTL fuel,” said Robert Springer, Sales
Manager Commercial Fleet. ”We take pride in leading the development of safe and cost efficient
LNG fuel. LNG has become an important part of the fuels mosaic for the future. ”
Shell intends to build more LNG filling stations in the Netherlands and to expand the network in
Europe.
