“Gyanaanubhav Prawaah Sahayaatraa” (GPS)

THINK Gas, a city gas distribution company in India, recently co-hosted the second edition of “ज्ञानानुभव प्रवाह सहयात्रा” “Gyanaanubhav Prawaah Sahayaatraa” (GPS) along with Natural Gas Society (NGS) in Bhopal. THINK Gas showcased and shared the best practices in LNG storage & Dispensing at the second edition of the GPS. It also organised a day visit of all the delegates to its first-of-its-kind LNG facility at the Bagroda Industrial Area in Bhopal. Established in 2018, THINK Gas has licenses to operate CGD networks in 13 districts in India across different states, covering an area of 47,000 sq. km and a population of over 17 million.

Shri D V Shastry, ED, Natural Gas Society, welcomed the chief guest Smt. Smita Bharadwaj, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Shri V C Chittoda, Sr. Consultant, Natural Gas Society; Shri Sandeep Trehan, COO, THINK Gas and; Shri Pradeep Bhatt, SVP, THINK Gas.

Inaugurating the event, Smt. Bharadwaj said that the government machinery fully supports the development of natural gas ecosystem and emphasised on increased usage of natural gas, deployment of better technologies to reduce methane loss, and creating a robust carbon credit mechanism.

Speaking at the event, Shri Trehan said, “We are happy to co-host NGS in its second edition of GPS and showcase our first-of-its-kind LNG storage and dispensing facility in Bhopal. THINK Gas believes in bringing in the best practices and best in class technology to ensure supply of natural gas to the end consumer. We are keen to share our learnings and knowledge with our industry colleagues through this knowledge sharing platform and look forward to supporting it in the future.”

Shri Shastry said, “NGS has established itself as an industry think tank and provides critical inputs into sectorial policy through research, collaboration, and dialogue. It is heartening to see that these initiatives have evoked very good contribution and response from the professionals in the NG Transmission and CGD sectors. We would like to invite organisations to join NGS in furthering our effort to promote use of natural gas as a clean and affordable fuel during the current times of energy transition.”

At the event, THINK Gas felicitated Mr. Chanchalesh Girhare, Transport Manager, Bhopal Municipal Corporation, who shared his experience of implementing natural gas ecosystem along with THINK Gas in Bhopal and shared how the authority had benefitted in savings by opting for CNG buses in the city. THINK Gas also felicitated Mr Sunil Namdeo, an auto driver; household customers Ms. Deepali Pawar, (resident of Aashima Royal City) and Mr. Umang Chand Jain (resident of Priyadarshani Paramount) for being the early adopters and being the agents of change in the city.

A unique initiative started by NGS, GPS is a platform for sharing knowledge, experience and best practices amongst the industry members. Based on the premise of experiential learning, this initiative also involves organising physical day visits to the facilities and installations of its member organisations. Through the GPS series NGS ensures that the industry focus is on areas like building technical competence, assimilation of the state-of-art technology, experimenting and innovation, achieving increased operational efficiency and enhanced conservation of available resources with a great customer focus. Along with efficiency and profitability, the knowledge sharing platform also acknowledges the imperative of safety and integrity in pipeline operations. The first GPS by NGS was organised at Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), Mumbai in March 2023, with a focus on sharing the best practices and experiences on HSE systems, processes and the practices implemented by the company.
