Port of Rotterdam receives first newly built LNG powered tanker
The LNG powered product tanker “Ternsund” is arriving for the first time to the European sea port where
it will be celebrated in the Port of Rotterdam on Monday 8 th of August. The vessel is environmentally
friendly and energy efficient with solutions to minimize harmful air emissions of the whole supply chain
and is a result of the EU co-funded project “Into the Future – Baltic SO2lution”.
The project is a part of the co-operation between ship-owner Terntank, marine solutions provider
Wärtsilä, fuel and bio-products supplier North European Oil Trade (NEOT) and energy and environmental
consultant Wega under the Zero Vision Tool.
The first arrival will be celebrated together with the ship-owner, makers, the crew and representatives
from the shipyard as well as representatives from the Port of Rotterdam. Representatives of the national
transport authorities, European Commission and European Parliament, collaboration stakeholders and
other co-operation partners have been invited.
