Vologda Joins Russia’s Push Toward Widespread Natural Gas Fueled Transportation
Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo, LLC (GMT) and the government of Vologda Oblast, a federal subject located north of Moscow, have joined the growing number of Russian regions signing up to introduce natural gas as a transportation fuel and cooperate on the development of NGV infrastructure. The scope for this major energy transformation not only includes natural gas as a fuel for passenger and special transport, but also municipal, agricultural and other machinery applications.
To ensure filling of the updated vehicle fleet with economic and eco-friendly motor fuel, GMT will create gas-filling infrastructure and centres for retrofitting and maintenance of natural gas vehicles.
Under the Agreement, the Parties will form a working group that will determine the priority list and future construction projects: CNG filling stations and multifuel stations (MAZS). Their construction and expansion of the gas-fuelled fleet will be in line with the market development program for motor fuel in the Vologda region.
GMT and the government will develop a road map and pass implementation to a selected workgroupControl of its implementation will lead the working group.
In the Vologda region there is currently only 1 Gazprom CNG filling station.
