Pluto LNG back in action

Pluto LNG operated by Woodside Petroleum Ltd., commmenced production following the precautionary action to shut-in production on 16 March, after a drilling rig drifted near the Pluto flowlines.

The submersible rig, Atwood Osprey, owned by Atwood Oceanics Inc., parted several mooring lines and drifted approximately three nautical miles from its original position during Cyclone Olwyn.

The category three cyclone impacted the northwest coast of Australia bringing hurricane force winds, heavy rain and severe floodings in Perth.

Despite the temporary shut down, Pluto’s production target range of 84 -91 MMboe will remain unchanged, the operator said in a statement.

A joint venture by Woodside Petroleum (90%), Tokyo Gas (5%) and Kansai Electric (5%), Pluto LNG has generted more than 15,000 Australian jobs.
