Hungary’s Biggest CNG Station Planned for Miskolc

Miskolc, a city of north-eastern Hungary, will soon have its first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling station. It will be the largest in the country, according to MGKKE, the Hungarian NGV Association. The six lanes for buses and two additional lanes for public use will be served by three BRC QuboGas compressors with a total built-in capacity of over 2400 Nm3/h.

The contract, signed by Mr. Zsolt Singlár, CEO of the Public Transportation Company of Miskolc (MVK) and Mr. Csaba Kis, managing director of successful tenderer Gilbarco-ACIS Kft, calls for completion of the project in six months, including planning and permitting.

MGKKE, which has actively supported the adoption of natural gas fuelled public transportation for Miskolc, explains the new station will service 40 single and 35 articulated MAN Lions City CNG buses which will be delivered to Miskolc City Transport (MVK) later this year.

A few days earlier it was announced that another city of Hungary is also going ‘green’. Kaposvár, in the country’s south-west, will also receive 40 CNG buses this year, bringing the total number of cities in Hungary offering CNG-fuelled public transportation to five.
