NGS 4th O&M Workshop for the CGD industry sees record participation
The fourth Operation &Maintenance workshop for CGD industry organized by Natural Gas Society on 17-18th February 2020 saw record participation this year. The Multipurpose Hall at the India International Centre was full with about 100 participants from over 30 companies which included CGD entities and industry associates.
The workshop was addressed by luminaries from the CGD industry which included Mr Manoj Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, GAIL India Ltd., Founder Patron of NGS and past C&MD of GAIL India Ltd; Mr. B C Tripathi, present Governing Council Member and Executive Director GAIL India Ltd., Mr. Rajeev Mathur, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, former MD of IGL and later CEO of Adani Gas, Mr. E S Ranganathan, Managing Director, Indraprastha Gas Ltd. The speakers praised the role of NGS in organizing such workshops which touched on core issues and knowledge sharing and facilitated exchange of information and experience. Such workshops are the need of the hour as India is poised to expand the city gas distribution network as evinced by the Govt. of India through the 9th, 10th and 11th rounds of bidding process for various geographical areas across India. Speakers also emphasized the need for technology upgradation and to assign top priority to safety.
Mr Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL India Ltd. graced the occasion later in the day. He also stressed upon the need and importance of such workshops, and spoke about disseminating of lessons from the operation and maintenance operations carried out by older CGD companies, and newer developments taken up by different CGD companies and other stake holders associated with the CGD industry.
There was a panel discussion on CGD challenges, and Gas Loss Accounting System followed by presentation and discussion on different topics like – O&M practices and changes especially in dispenser, customer addressing; New Initiatives, Automatic Meter Reading and its application in CGD Industry; and New Technology Initiatives in CGD industry, in different sessions spread over one and half day of intense deliberations by the speakers.
