LNG imports: Improved gas supply in winter expected

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources is confident that there will be improved supply of natural gas to consumers in the upcoming winter season, especially since the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has been streamlined.

“Gas supply is improving gradually, especially after the arrival of imported LNG and 84 new oil and gas discoveries. So, this winter, the supply will be better compared to previous years,” an official said on Monday.

Sources said the government was making efforts to keep the gap between demand and supply of gas at the lowest level at the peak of winter season, adding a load management programme would also be adopted depending on the need.

Answering a question, they said currently uninterrupted gas supply was being made to domestic, commercial, industrial, power, fertiliser and compressed natural gas (CNG) sectors.
