Huelva public transport company finishes fleet renewal with CNG buses

With the commissioning of 10 new eco-friendly CNG buses with state-of-the-art features, the Huelva City Council, in Spain, completes the renewal of 50% of the Emtusa (Municipal Urban Transport Company) fleet, having incorporated 20 new vehicles since the last mandate with a total investment of 6.4 million euros and reinforcing the commitment to modernize 100% of this fleet in successive phases.

“We continue to make decisive progress in our commitment to public transport and sustainable mobility in the city with the renewal of an obsolete fleet that had an average age of 25 years,” said the mayor of Huelva Gabriel Cruz. He added that this new batch of bus renovation is in addition to the multiple improvements “with which we have been promoting Emtusa since we came to the Government of the City Council.”

The new buses are MAN Lion’s City A21 CNG, with the latest technology and ecological NGV technology. The use of this fuel represents a great environmental improvement since it reduces emissions to the atmosphere by 95% and noise pollution by 5%, and achieves savings of more than 30% in fuel costs.

With these buses, which also include automated ramps for people with reduced mobility, a fully adapted fleet is achieved. Likewise, the vehicles have ergonomic seats, modern design, panoramic screens so that the information that users see is in a larger format, USB chargers, Wi-Fi, paneled driver’s cabin (for vandal protection), video surveillance cameras, specially designed signage for blind people and on-board computer system that allows all bus parameters to be remotely controlled from the Emtusa central. They also have lighting with LED devices and the latest advances in security and fire protection.
