Chongqing exchange auctions first LNG from non-Chinese supplier

China’s Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange has auctioned off its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) from a foreign supplier, according to an article on its website. The 3.2 trillion British thermal units (Btu), or 64,000 metric tonnes, of LNG from Malaysia’s Petronas was sold at an auction on Sept. 28, said the article, which did not identify the buyer. The LNG, sold at a price of $10.50 per million Btu, is to be delivered by ship to an unspecified port * Trading on the Chongqing exchange, which has previously auctioned LNG cargoes belonging to PetroChina, began in May.
