Orga proposes cut in natural gas prices amid declining inflation

ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has proposed cut in natural gas prices as it has determined the estimated revenue requirements for the fiscal year 2024-25 for sui gas companies.

The authority has proposed 10 percent or Rs179.17 decrease in gas price fixing per MMBTU price at Rs1,635.909 for the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

Similarly, it has proposed Rs59.23 or four percent decrease, fixing per MMBTU rate at Rs1,401.25 for South Southern Gas Pipelines Limited.

The development comes as inflation rate continues to decrease in Pakistan amid hopes of foreign investment and implementation of strict policies.

Meanwhile, the federal government likely to further increase electricity prices by Rs3.49 per unit, the sources close to the development said on Tuesday.

The move cause more burden on the power consumers.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) moved a request seeking Rs3.49 per unit increase in electricity prices under the monthly fuel price adjustment for April.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) would take up the plea on May 30.
