Spain: new pilot will trial NGV performance in last mile operations

Carreras and Cuétara have launched a pilot test of last mile distribution with natural gas vehicles. Carreras logistics group is using a vehicle with these characteristics of the Renault brand to make a part of the last mile distribution dedicated to the food company Cuétara.

Carreras, with operations in Spain and Portugal, wants to investigate ways to reduce emissions from its activities, specifically in this case of last mile distribution. The aim is to evaluate the implementation of CNG vehicles for this activity, with controlled temperature for delivery management, and to study the improvements achieved, as well as the environmental impact.

Natural gas vehicles are also quieter, so they reduce noise pollution and are ideal for distribution in urban centers.

This pilot project, to which Cuétara has joined, is part of an ambitious Carreras plan to achieve more sustainable transport, reduce pollutant emissions and neutralize them with compensatory activities. The plan includes several improvement projects with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality.

To analyze this extremely positive scenario for natural gas and sustainable urban transport, and evaluate the latest in alternative fuel technologies for clean mobility, AltFuels Iberia 2020 will be held on 5-9 October at IFEMA Trade Fair Center in Madrid. For more information, please
