Use CNG, Delhi govt tells all app-based cabs
Tightening its noose on app-based taxi aggregators, the AAP government has decided not to compromise with Delhi’s air quality and women safety and directed the companies to only run CNG-based taxis which have GPS and license to operate in the city.
The government has decided to move court against app-based taxi services if they do not follow its directives. The government has given a last chance to give a hearing to Ola and Uber to present their views on laid-down norms. “We verified the data given by Uber and Ola and found over 80% of their taxis are diesel-run which contribute to polluting Delhi’s air extensively.
“Uber and Ola have to run all their taxis on CNG,” transport minister Gopal Rai said.
He also said that for the safety of women, Uber and Ola should install GPS in their taxis and get them registered with the transport department.
