Spanish logistics group expands green fleet with new natural gas trucks
Grupo Alonso, with operational bases throughout the Iberian Peninsula, has just received the first batch of its new Iveco LNG-powered tractors. Thanks to this new expansion, the group’s road transport division will have more than 500 vehicles, of which 17% run already on natural gas.
The objective is to contribute the greatest number of green kilometers to customers and society. The company has been offering a last-mile transportation service for years with a fleet of trucks powered by natural gas. This new acquisition is a step forward that reaffirms Grupo Alonso as a benchmark in the combined transport sector.
The new Iveco Stralis NP vehicles are characterized by their efficiency and commitment to ecology. With a range of 1,600 kilometers, an engine with a capacity of 13 liters and 460 HP, the trucks are designed for medium and long distance operations.
In addition to the exceptional energy efficiency of the engine, this model offers extra fuel-saving solutions such as the EcoSwitch, the optimized ratio of the rear axle, the Eco tires -with low rolling resistance, and the DSE (Driving Style Evaluation). In fact, this model is the result of the research work of the manufacturer, during the last 20 years, in the field of natural gas.
Grupo Alonso is currently developing its Global Logistics Plan, in which it is committed to greater efficiency in the energy cost of transport and the progressive reduction of polluting emissions. This project has been co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
