Spain: Valladolid approves addition of CNG buses and collection trucks
The Governing Board of the Municipality of Valladolid, meeting in ordinary session under the presidency of the mayor Óscar Puente Santiago, approved the Plan for the incorporation of compressed natural gas in vehicles of the Cleaning Service and AUVASA (Urban Buses of Valladolid), with the objective of maintaining its commitment to sustainable energy. The incorporation of CNG vehicles will be carried out gradually over the next five years and there will be a total of 20 trucks for the cleaning service and 30 buses for AUVASA, with an investment of 6,525,000 euros and 9 million euros respectively. According to the municipality, pollution in large cities forces to look for alternatives to diesel vehicles, and natural gas is the most viable alternative. Transport technologies based on natural gas have shown that they are more efficient than diesel in terms of emissions, even improving the new regulations such as the Euro 6 standard. In addition, a refueling station will be built at AUVASA’s facilities, with enough space for the upgrading, which would allow to provide fuel to both services –public transport and cleaning- at least in the first phase of renovation, since the refueling of the buses is mainly carried out in the night while collection trucks refuel during the day. In this extremely encouraging scenario for natural gas vehicles and sustainable mobility, AltFuels Iberia 2019 will take place on 11-14 June at IFEMA Trade Center, Madrid. It will be an event consisting of first level conferences and exhibition of vehicles of all kinds, refueling stations, components, plants, road and marine engines, as well as the entire universe of the alternative fuels industry with the latest technological developments, multiple options for networking, business and new advances.
