Spain: first natural gas station in Albacete becomes operational
The General Director of Business of the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha, Javier Rosell; the Mayor of Albacete, Vicente Casañ; the Project Director of Naturgy Group, Jaume Cases; and the Manager of Monegas station, Javier Santiago, have opened the first public natural gas station in Albacete. The facility, located at the Campollano Industrial Park, will allow refueling of LNG and CNG to vehicles and heavy transport.
The NGV station is strategically located since it is 500 meters from the A-31, which connects Madrid with Alicante and Murcia, and has connection with the A-32 and the A-30, as well as with others national roads. In addition, there are more than 1,000 companies at Campollano Industrial Park, with more than 15,000 people working daily.
Naturgy has made an investment of more than 650,000 euros to launch this facility featuring an LNG tank, which will serve the entire fleet of the Monegas as well as the increasingly growing demand from vehicles and heavy transport. With this recent opening, Naturgy already has public natural gas stations in the five provinces of Castilla-La Mancha, through a network of six refueling centers.
The new station is the second that Naturgy and Monegas have launched, since in 2013 they jointly opened one in Motilla del Palancar, in Cuenca, which was the first public natural gas station in the region.
The natural gas refueling network continues to grow in Spain and the new map of refueling points will allow to meet the increasing demand and strengthen the availability of this fuel in the market, given the wider acceptance that NGVs are experiencing. To analyze this extremely positive scenario for natural gas and sustainable mobility, and evaluate the latest in alternative fuel technologies for road and sea transport, AltFuels Iberia 2020 will be held on 5-9 October at IFEMA Trade Fair Center in Madrid.
