SoCalGas Donating CNG for Special Olympics NGVs

Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) is donating the compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel that will be used in NGVs transporting athletes and their coaches during the Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics are using 300 CNG-powered school buses donated by the Los Angeles Unified School District. The buses will access CNG at refueling stations at the school district’s bus yards.

SoCalGas is also donating more than $100,000 to the Special Olympics.

“SoCalGas has a long history of working with Special Olympics, and we are so grateful for their tremendous support through volunteer activities, donations and helping us raise awareness for our organization,” says Stephanie Medina, senior vice president of community relations with Special Olympics World Games.

SoCalGas has an extensive NGV support program to provide information, education and support to residential and business customers that use, or would benefit from using, clean-burning natural gas as a transportation fuel.
