Scania Argentina, together with its dealer Baisur Motor, delivered a CNG refuse truck from the Green Efficiency Line to Cliba, which will test the unit in real operating conditions for a year. Benito Roggio Ambiental’s services company received the vehicle at an event attended by representatives from both companies, along with Clara Muzzio, Minister of Public Space and Urban Hygiene of the City of Buenos Aires; Anders Carlsson, Ambassador of Sweden in Argentina; and Baisur Motor authorities.

With more than 30 years of experience in urban services, Cliba will use the truck to operate bilateral waste collection during the late shift in Comuna 14 and during the night in Comuna 2, in the Palermo and Recoleta neighborhoods respectively. Based on the environmental benefits provided by natural gas as an alternative fuel, the company chose this Scania truck to prioritize lowering CO2 emissions and reducing noise and noise emissions.

“The unit is a truck with a 280 HP engine powered by CNG, certified with the Euro 6 standard, which exceeds the requirements in terms of polluting emissions in our country,” explained Fernando Ríos, Sales Director of Scania Argentina.

Both companies signed an agreement with the purpose of continuing to jointly develop actions and projects that promote more sustainable and efficient transportation. “As part of our strategic alliance with Scania, we continue to improve and innovate our service with an eye toward sustainability. The incorporation of our first CNG truck is one more of the initiatives that aim to increase the efficiency in the management of urban cleaning services in the city,” expressed Guillermo Virano, General Manager of Cliba.

On behalf of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Clara Muzzio stated: “I congratulate Cliba and Scania for joining forces to migrate towards more sustainable business models. I hope this initiative is a real success, a kickstart to continue working together from an agenda that is greener every day. The public and private sectors must remain committed to this transformation as agents of change.”
