Pune: CNG prices shoot up; petrol breaches Rs 110 per litre mark

PUNE: While CNG prices in the city saw a major increase on Thursday, the price of petrol breached the Rs 110 mark. Also, the cost of a litre of diesel was just 64 paise short of Rs. 100. The cost of one kg of CNG in Pune on Thursday stood at Rs. 62.10, a price increase by more than Rs. 2.Before this, October 4 had seen an increase in the CNG prices after it increased and stood at Rs. 59.50 from the earlier Rs. 57.50. The prices of petrol and diesel, which have been on a constant rise for more than a week now, have become stable since the last two days.  Sources said that it was for the first time that the prices of CNG and petrol were so high in Pune. “The prices of all kinds of fuel are on an all-time high in Pune. It is for the first time that the price of petrol has breached the Rs 110 mark and the CNG prices crossed Rs 60 mark. The price of diesel is also at an all-time high. Its prices will cross the Rs. 100 mark very soon if prices continue to increase in the same way,” an official with the Pune Petrol Dealers Association said. The CNG in the state is supplied by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL). While the increasing cost of petrol and diesel has been attributed to high prices of crude oil, MNGL sources have earlier said that the rising cost of raw materials was leading to prices of CNG increasing. In Pune, almost 95% of all autorickshaws run on CNG. Also, a majority of city buses (PMPML) also run on the same fuel
