NGVs now benefit from a 50% bonus in Madrid ( Spain ) parking service

On 1 June, the amendments to the Regulated Parking Service (SER) of Madrid entered into force, agreed at the City Hall plenary session on 29 December 2016. Among the new features was the increase in the bonus on regulated parking rates from 20% to 50% for vehicles powered by natural gas and tariffs based on the technology and emissions of pollutants associated with the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) environmental classification.

This bonus applies to all places covered by SER: blue, green, low emission areas and differentiated areas, as well as to the rates for the authorizations of residents and owners of commercial or industrial vehicles. Thus, the owner of a private natural gas vehicle will pay € 12.30 for his/her annual resident’s license, instead of € 24.60 of the base rate. In the case of a commercial vehicle, the savings are even greater, as the driver will pay between € 15.75 and € 286 instead of up to € 566, depending on the type of authorization they choose.

Natural gas plays a key role for sustainable mobility. Its use as fuel for all types of transportation is a real and economical solution to the problem of air quality in large cities.

As discussed at the V Congress of the Iberian Association of Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) held on March 7 and 8 in Madrid, natural gas for vehicles is a basic element to improve air quality and avoid the exposure of people to environmental risk factors, such as pollution, that affect their health.
