Mexico: Puebla receives first CNG refuse collection truck
Mayor Tony Gali received the first garbage truck that runs on natural gas from PromotoraAmbiental SA de C.V. (PASA) in order to reduce the pollution in the city. As part of Smart City Expo Puebla, the mayor noted that the city is the first in Mexico to feature this environmentally friendly technology and said that this initiative came from PASA to contribute to sustainable development.
Gali said that PASA has been characterized by its policy to work in coordination with the governments in new schemes that will benefit citizens. “I thank the company that Puebla is pioneering, it is the first municipality in the country to have this type of trucks added to the fleet,” he said.
Angel Meneses Gutierrez, general manager of PASA, stressed that the new truck offers major environmental benefits and indicated that the vehicle will provide solutions to encourage recycling and having less landfill with innovative actions to help improve the citizens’ quality of life.
Using this truck, the city will reduce 23% carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometer, compared to a diesel fuel vehicle.
