Kakinada: Gas leak from ONGC well plugged

A minor gas leakage was reported from well of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited at Uppidi village of Katrenukona mandal in East Godavari on Sunday. However, the experts brought the situation under control by arresting gas leakage successfully. According to sources, the gas was leaked from one of the ONGC rig and it couldn’t be controlled by 8.30 pm.

The police and ONGC authorities asked the people to evacuate the place and stay away 50 meters from the site. The traffic has been halted and diverted to prevent untoward incidents. ONGC Production Group Manager Adesh Kumar said that nearly 15,000 cubic meters of gas leaked from the well and added DGH has authorised PFH Oil and Gas Pvt Ltd to operate and produce it. The ONGC is in no way connected with the Uppidi village gas leakage, he added. ONGC Rajahmundry Assets PRO Akrati Bhatia said that ONGC was extending all help to PFH Oil in every way possible. He said that ONGC special team controlled the pressure of gas and brought the situation under control.
