IHC orders for not disconnecting gas supply to CNG stations of Potohar region

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered for not disconnecting gas supply to CNG stations and has issued notice to ministry of petroleum and natural resources and others.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah took up for hearing Thursday petitions filed by owners of  314 CNG stations of Potohar region.

Barrister Rauf counsel for the petitioners argued that orders are being issued by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SBGP) for disconnecting the gas supply connection in respect of 314 CNG stations of Potohar region. This act is illegal. The billion of rupees investment by CNG stations owners will stand ceased.

 

He told the court that providing electricity and gas to the citizens is responsibility of government and it is part of fundamental rights of the citizens. Ministry of petroleum and natural resources is meting out unconstitutional treatment to the CNG stations owners. Government has issued orders for disconnecting gas supply to 314 CNG stations of Potohar region despite the fact that they pay electricity and gas bills. CNG stations owners have resorted to the court against these orders.

The court while issuing notices to ministry of petroleum and natural resources and others adjourned the hearing of the case for one week.
