Hyundai E&C wins US$736 Million Deal from Saudi Aramco
for a gas treatment plant
Hyundai Engineering and Construction (Hyundai E&C), the building arm of Hyundai Motor Group, has obtained an order on October 27 to build a gas treatment plant worth US$736 million (833 billion won) in Uthmaniyah from Saudi Arabia’s state-run oil company Saudi Aramco.
The plant, which is to be built in Uthmaniyah, 325 kilometers east of the capital Riyadh, will be used for separating and collecting natural gas fractions such as ethane and propane through a demethanizer from the 1.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of gas produced in the region.
Under the turnkey construction contract taking charge of the full process from engineering, procurement and construction, Hyundai E&C will construct the Uthmaniyah plant for 37 months and complete the project by the end of 2019.
Hyundai E&C has successfully completed the Saudi Aramco’s Karan gas treatment project worth US$1.4 billion (1.6 trillion won) in 2012 and Khurais gas treatment plant worth US$700 million (801.85 million won) in 2009, proving its competence in construction management.
