Gas Natural Fenosa supports CNG adoption in more commercial fleets
BAXI, a leading company in the field of air conditioning systems, and Gas Natural Distribución, a distribution subsidiary of Gas Natural Fenosa, signed a partnership agreement to promote the use of CNG in the fleet of after-sales vehicles owned by the air conditioning company. Gas Natural Distribución will provide the company with support in terms of technical issues, regulations, technologies and usage recommendations for this material as a fuel for vehicles.
The agreement reflects the commitment made by BAXI and the power company to sustainability and clean energies as they have agreed to study the use of gas in the company’s fleet of commercial vehicles, starting with a trial involving its vehicles in Madrid and Barcelona.
“For us, it is highly important to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability throughout the company and this agreement is another step in that regard. We believe that we are heading towards a model of the future and are fully committed to that at all levels: as manufacturers, installers and users as well,” said Jordi Mestres, General Manager of BAXI for the Iberian Peninsula. “We want to expand the trial we are starting in Madrid and Barcelona to the entire BAXI fleet.”
In turn, Núria Rodríguez, Gas Distribution in Spain Business Manager for Gas Natural Distribución, highlighted the importance of agreements like this one in order to support development of the gas distribution network in Spain and reduce pollution. She highlighted “the importance of using natural gas as a fuel to reduce emissions and improve air quality in urban areas”, adding that natural gas is being called upon to be one of the fuels of the future in the transport sector due to its both economic and environmental advantages.
