Gail India to conduct environment awareness drives in Chennai schools
CHENNAI: The Chennai zone of Gail India Limited, one of the country’s largest natural gas companies, is executing ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’, an initiative of the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, to create awareness of cleanliness and hygiene with a touch of environmental responsibility.
According to a statement, the firm will conduct massive tree plantation drives in government schools and colleges, apart from in-house activities such as walkathons, in the coming week. Some of the activities include installation of dustbins and distribution of sanitary napkins at the Jaigopal Garodia Government Girls School in Saidapet, distribution of Covid safety kits and eco-friendly bags at the Chennai Middle School at Thousand Lights and plantation of saplings at Dr Ambedkar Government Arts College in Vyasarpad Gail will also be conducting various competitions for school children to motivate them and create awareness about hygiene.
These will be followed by prize distribution and felicitation of teaching staff at Chennai Middle School and Jaigopal Garodia Govt Girls School.
