Dutch Transporter Adds 14 LNG Tractors

Dutch transport company Peter Appel Transport, based in Middenmeer, has acquired four new Iveco Stralis Hi-Road tractors. The new tractors run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and were delivered by Iveco dealer Schouten. Peter Appel Transport has been operating four LNG tractors since 2012. It has ten more Iveco LNG tractors on order, bringing the LNG fleet total to 18.

With sites across the Netherlands, Peter Appel Transport specializes in distribution activities for the retail and foodservice industries. The company has implemented several initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions from its operations, including buying 4 IVECO LNG tractors as its first foray into natural gas vehicles. These trucks have travelled more than 1.25 million kilometers “to full satisfaction!”, being used daily for supermarket distribution.

The four new Iveco Stralis Hi-Road LNG tractors utilise the FPT Cursor 8 gas engine with an output of 330 hp, producing very low emissions of NOx, CO2 and particulates. The Euro VI emission standard is achieved without the use of AdBlue or a particle filter. In addition, the noise is low (PEAK certified), enabling these trucks to enter inner city zones when other trucks are restricted.

The new LNG tractors will be refuelled at the Rolande LNG filling station in Tilburg.
