Colombia Proposes CNG ‘Blue Corridors’
Colombia’s National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) has announced intention to create “Blue Corridors” across the country, envisaging the installation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) service stations approximately every one hundred kilometers. ANH director, Gary Medrano, said that the purpose of the project is to establish routes for which only CNG fuel is required.
Medrano says there are various hurdles to overcome, including the location and reach of natural gas pipeline, which need to be scoped as part of the planning phase.
The Director added that currently there are about 300 CNG filling stations in the country and the project will add about 40 more. Each CNG station costs an average cost of USD 700-800,000and requires an area of 1,000 square meters, he said.
