Mangaluru: The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) has been reduced from Rs 88 per kg to Rs 84 on Tuesday, June 07. Dakshina Kannada Zilla CNG Balekadarara Sangha (CNG Users Association) has been demanding that the price of CNG be reduced.
Sangha founder president Sh. Haikadi Srinath Rao stated that about 15,000 vehicles, including light motor vehicles and heavy vehicles, use CNG as fuel in the Dakshina Kannada district. There are around 4,000 CNG-run vehicles in the city and have already expressed our concern over the frequent rise in CNG prices. We held a meeting of the association, to discuss the future course of action. In the meantime, also requested MLAs, the MP & GAIL officials to consider this demand to reduce the price of CNG. Now he stated that the price of CNG has been reduced by Rs 4 per kg from Tuesday.
“CNG supplied from Mangaluru is sold at Rs 73 per kg in Udupi. Hence, our demand is that the price of CNG should be at least Rs 5 less in Mangaluru, than in Udupi,” he further added.
