CNG price likely to go down in NCR

The prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Delhi and its satellite towns will go down in a day or two as the government on Tuesday, announced the reduction in prices of the domestically produced natural gas.

“The government announced revision in prices of domestically produced natural gas from the existing $5.05 per mmbtu to $4.66 per mmbtu based on GCV, which would also result in the reduction in the retail price of CNG and domestic PNG. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is currently working out the net impact on retail prices of CNG and PNG. The revised prices of CNG and PNG to be applicable in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be announced in a day or two,” said Naredra Kumar, managing director of IGL, the agency responsible for the retail distribution of CNG and PNG in Delhi and NCR towns.

The decrease in prices of CNG is crucial to Delhi as most means of public transport – buses, auto-rickshaws, mini buses, cabs, taxis and even goods-carriers are run on CNG, the clean fuel. Presently the CNG rate in Delhi is Rs 38.15 per kg; Rs 43.5 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad as per the rate revised on May 3, 2014.
