Chinese NGVs need more policy support
China’s output of LNG-fuelled trucks surged by 480% year on year in the first two months of 2017, to 6,950 vehicles, according to government data. However, consolidating the country’s patchwork of LNG service stations will be critical if the fuel is to gain acceptance among freight operators.
Owners of LNG-fuelled vehicles in China frequently complain that the country’s LNG filling station sector is fragmented, with numerous independent operators and different players pushing proprietary payment methods, according to Niu Guangxu, deputy director of vehicular gas use at ENN Energy Holdings.
