700 CNG outlets likely in Nagpur district in 8 years, piped gas for industry, homes

Nagpur: The district is likely to get 700 CNG pumps for vehicles within a span of eight years and supply of natural gas at doorsteps for industrial and domestic purposes in a year or more. Haryana City Gas (KCE) Private Ltd is all set to begin talks with consumers and commence works of laying piped gas network across the district. TOI on March 15 had reported GAIL Limited has started laying gas pipeline along Nagpur-Mumbai super communication expressway, popularly known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, which will enable supply of natural gas to all districts of Vidarbha. MSRDC vice-chairman and managing director Radheshyam Mopalwar had told TOI that all districts of Vidarbha including Nagpur will get city gas distribution (CGD) networks after completion of the pipeline.  General manager (commercial) of Haryana City Gas (KCE) Private Ltd Varun Chaturvedi told TOI that Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has issued licence to the company for CGB in Nagpur district. “Our office will be set up soon followed by works in Nagpur district,” he said. Chaturvedi further said that the plan is to develop 700 CNG pumps across the district. “We are about to enter into an agreement with Rawmatt Industries Pvt Ltd which has developed and operating four CNG stations in the district. Rawmatt will run these stations in the name of Haryana City Gas (KCE) Private Ltd. We will supply gas to Rawmatt. Our company will develop new stations and operate them through various models,” he said. He said the company is already in talks with GAIL Limited for supply of gas. “We are likely to get sufficient gas required for the entire district,” he said. The company will facilitate gas to all industries in the district. “Our teams will start discussions with all industries in the district soon. It will take sometime to lay network and give supply for domestic purposes,” he said. If the project is executed well, it will be for the first time the district will get natural gas for running industries and domestic

purposes. It will also help Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to run its 70 standard-sized city buses converted to gas from diesel. The service is reportedly effected due to irregular supply of gas. NMC is planning to convert remaining fleet of standard-size city buses into CNG. A few days ago, the rates of CNG were more than petrol in the city. Chaturvedi claimed the rates will come down once Haryana City Gas execute all works. The same company has also obtained license for Baloda Bazaar, Gariyaband and Raipur districts in Chhattisgarh for CGD networks. GAIL Limited has also planned to lay gas pipeline from Nagpur to Raipur to Jharsuguda in Odisha which will be an extension of pipeline being laid from Mumbai to Nagpur. Haryana City Gas (KCE) Private Ltd will be enable to start supplying gas to districts of adjacent state after laying and charging of these pipelines. –
