Generalitat Valenciana adds hybrid CNG buses to busy intercity route

The Generalitat Valenciana (the generic name covering the different self-government institutions under which the Spanish autonomous community of Valencia is politically organized) has renewed the line of interurban regional road transport concessions linking the coastal municipalities of Vinaróz, Benicarló and Peñíscola. This route represents the transport of one million passengers annually with frequencies ranging from 32 to 68 services per year. Nine low-entry CNG hybrids manufactured by Scania Castrosua were presented for this line. The delivery was made through Talleres Rapalo, Scania’s official dealer in the area.

These vehicles feature a new corporate image, they are equipped with the latest Euro 6 technology with a 9-liter Scania engine, automatic gearbox, “color plus” dashboards, and multiple ADAS-type active safety systems that include 360° perimeter vision, signal readers, fatigue detectors, alcoholocks and collision detectors.

Anticovid measures such as temperature scanner, disinfection mat and anticovid screens are also included. They are highly accessible vehicles with double manual and automatic access ramp, two PMR stations and a minimalist and functional interior.

“This renovation, the first in the Valencian Community of this type of lines, marks a new standard of quality, safety and accessibility in regional transport lines. In addition, it generates an undoubted point of attraction towards an efficient and functional public transport that will clearly be a boost to sustainable mobility in a densely populated area, especially in summer periods and in which Scania’s leadership proposal towards sustainable transport integrates a solution tailored to the customer’s needs,” said Pedro Cotera, Manager of Urban Bus Area at Scania Ibérica.
