Madrid supports the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles

The Community of Madrid is committed to vehicles with zero emissions and is promoting collaboration between administrations, companies and citizens to achieve an effective reduction of CO2, thus advancing in the fight against climate change. For this reason, the Minister of Environment and Planning of the Territory Pedro Manuel Rollán Ojeda has visited Toyota’s facilities in Alcobendas, where he could learn about a new hydrogen-powered vehicle. The car, called Mirai (which means ‘future’, in Japanese), is a pioneer in the use of this technology, which can go as far as any other gasoline vehicle of similar size, but with the tank full of this clean fuel and with the same safety. Its features fit in with the regional government’s environmental commitment that seeks to promote the use of efficient and low-emission vehicles. In this sense, the official said: “Without a doubt, a low emission mobility is key to face the challenge of the greenhouse effect and it is essential that technologies like this begin to be used also in Spain, in the same way that they are already used in other countries of Europe and in cities like Paris, Rome or London. With this widespread use we will achieve an effective contribution in the fight against climate change and the protection of the environment.” Toyota presents for the first time in Madrid its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, and the Community wants to prepare itself so that in the future the region can deploy this car and others with technologies that allow the reduction of polluting emissions. In addition, innovation in the automotive sector will be a dynamic element of the job market and will contribute to boost the economic activity of the region. Hydrogen is a clean and renewable energy and will be one of the many topics addressed at AltFuels Iberia 2019, taking place on 11-14 June at IFEMA Trade Fair Center, in Madrid. It will be an event consisting of first level conferences and exhibition of vehicles of all kinds, refueling stations, components, plants, road and marine engines, as well as the entire universe of the alternative fuels industry with the latest technological developments, multiple options for networking, business and new advances.
