For developing the network of natural gas distribution in urban areas in the state, Haryana government on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the GAIL(India) Ltd.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that with the signing of the MoU, production and supply of gas would be maintained in a proper way in the state and industrial estates, domestic and all utilities based on gas would get an opportunity to move forward.

As a result of the MoU, the state government has planned to get studies conducted for identification of viable geographical areas in major towns such as Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal and Sirsa. After identification of these areas, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board would be approached to initiate bidding process in those areas where pipelines for natural gas connectivity are available.

GAIL has almost completed gas pipelines infrastructure in Bawal and Yamunanagar industrial estates and natural gas would be available to these from December.
