Azerbaijan’s largest public transport operator adds 50 Otokar CNG buses
Turkish bus manufacturer Otokar has received an order to supply 50 natural gas vehicles to Azerbaijan to serve in Baku’s public transportation. The order was placed by Xaliq Faiqoglu, a leading public transit operator in Azerbaijan, and includes 48 12-meter KENT CNG buses and two 18.75-meters KENT articulated CNG buses. Otokar plans to start delivering the order this year and complete it in the first quarter of 2022.
“We are delighted to announce that our vehicles, which are already the choice of municipalities across Turkey along with many European countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Malta, and Romania, will soon start to serve Azerbaijan as well. This agreement also marks the largest export order for CNG buses in one lot. We are incredibly proud that the buses we design and manufacture in Turkey are used in some of the world’s major cities,” said General Manager Serdar Görgüç.
The 50 Otokar KENT CNG buses will be produced with features to meet the public transportation needs in Baku. “The KENT buses that we will produce in accordance with the requirements of Xaliq Faiqoglu, Azerbaijan’s largest public transportation operator serving the country for nearly 20 years, will bring superior comfort with their spacious interiors and features to Baku’s public transit system,” he added.
The NGVs offer low operating costs per seat and provide a pleasant journey each season with a powerful air conditioning system. The buses ensure maximum safety with features including ABS, ASR, disc brakes, and anti-jamming door systems, promising superior comfort in public transit.
Otokar provides safe and comfortable rides for millions of passengers in 50 countries, particularly in Europe, with more than 35,000 buses. They also have significant experience and know-how in alternative-fueled vehicles. “Driven by our R&D activities and capabilities, we developed Turkey’s first electric, first hybrid, CNG-powered, and first safe buses. These CNG buses will support the efforts to combat climate change and air pollution,” concluded Görgüç.
