JCB introduces CNG-diesel powered backhoe loader
JCB India Limited has launched 3DX DFi which is the first dual-fuel CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Backhoe Loader in India. The machine was launched in New Delhi by Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways. The 3DX DFi can run on CNG and diesel simultaneously using the HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) technology. This helps substantially reduce CO2 emissions. The combination of CNG and diesel also helps control the emission of particulate matter in the environment.
Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director, JCB India, said, “Throughout our four decades of operations in India, we have continued to invest in Innovation. It is one of the cornerstones of our operations. This dual-fuel machine can substitute Diesel with CNG and has been developed to cater to the evolving needs of our customers. It will further contribute to the creation of Infrastructure in the country and will also be exported to countries around the world.”
The 3DX DFi is based on 3DX model which is a widely used construction equipment. The flexible fueling option makes 3DX DFi suitable to be used in remote or rural areas where CNG fuel stations are not easily available. And in urban areas with access to CNG stations, the dual-fuel backhoe loader will be economical to use and bring down operation cost for the users.
JCB noted that 3DX DFi will come fitted with the company’s telematics technology — JCB LiveLink — to track and monitor machines in the real-time. This technology also gives updates on service, operation, and security of the machine, online or through a mobile application.
JCB 3DX DFi has been developed in India and is claimed to have been tested in various operating conditions. It will be built at the company’s Delhi-NCR factory at Ballabgarh.
